AMRESCO’s Optimum™ Buffer is a replacement for traditional TBE and TAE electrophoresis buffers. It allows for higher voltage runs (2 to 3 times greater without the gel melting), faster running times and a higher resolution band separation. This 10X buffer is ready for use in gel electrophoresis after diluting it to a working 1X concentration. Agarose gels may be prepared using 1X buffer. Optimum™ Buffer is also compatible with standard TBE and TAE gels, both pre-cast (simply take the pre-cast gel, place it into the electrophoresis chamber, pour in Optimum™ Buffer, load and run) and those made by hand. (TBE and TAE gels run in Optimum™ Buffer generally produce better results than when used in their own respective buffers.)

150 V is recommended for small electrophoresis chambers while a mid to large apparatus may be run at 200-250 V. The user should test his or her chamber to determine proper voltage before running the gel!!!
