EVEREST™, DENALI™, and GENESIS^® columns in diameters of 4.6 mm and less are supplied in advanced modular column hardware that provides excellent performance, long lifetimes, and ease of use. Each chromatographic-quality polished 316 stainless steel column consists of a threaded cartridge body, a PEEK cap and sealing ring, and removable threaded end-fittings. The PEEK cap houses the frit (2 µm top, 0.5 µm bottom) and seals the adsorbent in the column so the threaded inlet fitting can be replaced with a direct-connect guard cartridge. This zero-dead-volume system provides excellent column protection with no loss of chromatographic performance.

EVEREST™ and DENALI™ columns are supplied as complete columns including the packed column tube with end-fittings mounted.

GENESIS^® columns with catalog numbers ending in "E" are also complete packed columns with end-fittings included. With the exception of 1.0 mm i.d. columns, packed GENESIS^® columns are also available as cartridges for use as replacements by exchanging end-fittings from an existing column. Replacement end-fittings are also sold separately.

GENESIS^® 10 mm and 20 mm long columns are also available as performance-tested cartridges. They can be used as separate columns, but require the Stand-Alone holder of matching diameter and length. (See below)

All other analytical columns are supplied in conventional high-performance column hardware, seen below. (Exception: VENTURE™ affinity chromatography columns are supplied in PEEK hardware.)

Guard Hardware

For EVEREST™, DENALI™, and other VYDAC™ brand columns

Guards for EVEREST™, DENALI™, and other VYDAC™ brand columns are stand-alone modules sold as complete kits or as replacement cartridges. They can be connected to the column inlet using a short piece of 1/16-inch narrow-bore tubing and 10-32 fittings or with the Universal PEEK Coupler listed at the bottom of this page. Cartridge holders are included with the complete kits, but may also be purchased separately. Kits and cartridges are listed with columns in the appropriate sections of this catalog.

For GENESIS^® and APEX™ brand columns

GENESIS^® and APEX™ guards are sold as pre-packed cartridges. The cartridges are not threaded and require either a Stand-Alone or Direct-Connect guard holder of matching diameter and length which must be purchased separately (See below). If the Stand-Alone holder is selected, it can be coupled to the inlet of any column using the Universal PEEK Coupler. Direct-Connect guard holders are designed to thread directly onto the inlet end of the modular column hardware supplied with GENESIS^® columns only, in place of the inlet end-fitting.
