These capillary guard columns are designed for installation
on the injection valve in place of the sample loop
to protect reversed-phase capillary LC columns. The
300 and 500µm i.d. guards consist of PEEK tubing
12cm long with 1cm of 5µm adsorbent in the compression
screw assembly. The 75 and 150µm guards are
12cm long fused silica, also packed with 1 cm of 5µm
adsorbent. Frits are present to retain adsorbent in
both types. Stainless steel fittings on the 75 and
150µm units are suitable for use with stainless
steel injection valve bodies only.
