The Detector™ PCR DNA Biotinylation Kit provides a method for biotinylating DNA probes through incorporation of biotin-dCTP via a thermostable DNA polymerase and specific primers in the polymerase chain reaction (PCR*). Large quantities of biotinylated probes can be generated from a small amount of template. Only 10 pg of plasmid or 1 ng of genomic template DNA ranging in size from 100 bp to 1.1 kbp is required. Biotinylated PCR probes can be detected using enzyme-labeled streptavidin and a chemiluminescent or chromogenic substrate in Southern blots, Northern blots, dot blots, in situ hybridization, colony lifts, and plaque hybridizations.
Features and Benefits
- Amplifies and labels in one step.
- Biotinylated DNA probes are stable for at least 1 year and can be reused many times.
- Label the sequence of interest even from crude DNA samples.
- Biotinylated quantitation standard is provided to determine probe specific activity for greatest sensitivity without background in hybridization reactions.
