Detector™ Random Primer DNA Biotinylation Kit

The Detector™ Random Primer DNA Biotinylation kit provides a method for biotinylating DNA probes through incorporation of biotin-dCTP during random primer extension. Large quantities of biotinylated probes can be generated from a small amount of template. Optimal labeling occurs on templates that range from 300-1000bp in size. Efficient reaction requires only 100ng template DNA per reaction. Probes labeled with biotin using the random primer method can be used on Southern blots, Northern blots, dot blots, in situ hybridization, colony lifts and plaque hybridizations.

Features and Benefits

  • Biotinylated DNA probes are stable for at least 1 year without loss of activity and may be reused many times.
  • Biotinylated DNA is generated in as little as 1 hour with maximum template amplification.
  • Exo-Klenow DNA polymerase allows for longer labeling reactions without degradation of oligonucleotides.
  • Biotinylated quantitation standard enables determination of probe specific activity for greatest sensitivity without background in hybridization reactions. Each probe needs to be quantitated only one time.
