Fluorescent NEXT GEL™ is a revolutionary ready-to-pour acrylamide solution that contains a fluorescent stain for rapid band visualization following the electrophoretic
separation of denatured proteins. It provides all the benefits of AMRESCO’s original NEXT GEL™ and eliminates the need for post-run staining or destaining. AMRESCO’s Fluorescent NEXT GEL™ is fast and simple! Just add APS and TEMED and pour the gel. Following electrophoresis, protein bands can be seen within 3 - 5 minutes on a UV Transilluminator at 312 nm. The proprietary fluorescent probe is covalently cross-linked to the protein upon exposure to ultra-violet light. Fluorescent NEXT GEL™ is ideal for applications where immediate visualization of protein bands is desired.

Comparison of rapid fluorescent visualization with traditional Coomassie® staining.
A 10% Fluorescent NEXT GEL™ was run using AMRESCO’s Mid/Low Protein Marker (Code: J450-
200UL) and NEXT GEL™ Running Buffer. The gel was run at 175 volts for 1 hour. The protein bands
were first visualized by exposure to UV light for 3-5 minutes (A). The same gel (B) was subsequently
stained with 0.1% Coomassie® R-250 for 3 hours and destained according to standard methods.
Fluorescent NEXT GEL™ offers comparable sensitivity to Coomassie® R-250 (100 – 200 ng/
band) in a fraction of the time.
