BCIP/NBT Phosphatase Substrate contains 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-phosphate/nitroblue tetrazolium and is the most effective chromogenic substrate for immunoblot detection of phosphatase conjugates. Color formation occurs when alkaline phophatase catalyzes the dephophorylation of BCIP. This initiates a color cascade that produces crisp bands of intense purple precipitate with minimal background staining. BCIP/NBT is available as a 1-component and a 3-component system.
